    Darshan Chandaria CEO&Director, Chandaria Industries

    Chief Guest

    JKUAT Tech Expo is infinitely honoured to have Darshan Chandaria CEO & Director, Chandaria Industries as our Chief Guest in the seventh installation of the Tech Expo. Chandaria Industries is the largest tissue and hygiene products manufacturer and distributor of tissue & hygiene products in East & Central Africa. They are also the largest recyclers of paper waste in the same region. It goes without saying that Mr. Chandaria will bring on board a wealth of valuable experience and priceless insight onto this year’s platform as we collaborate with different stakeholders towards changing lives through innovation.

    Bitange Ndemo

    Keynote Speaker

    At the core of JKUAT Tech Expo’s key priorities is to see students turning their ideas and projects into viable competitive business products. There’s no better authority in the field than Professor Ndemo to the immediate former Permanent Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Information and Communication having served from 2005 to 2013. During his tenure in government, he initiated many trans-formative projects including infrastructural and development programs, as well as marketing Kenya as a destination for Business Processing Outsourcing. Currently lecturing on entrepreneurship and research methods at the University of Nairobi’s Business School, most of his research centers on the link between ICT and small and medium enterprises in Kenya.

  • The Commitee

    The JKUAT Tech Expo is honoured to have competent committee members to drive it to unheralded competitiveness in its fifth edition and beyond. The students’ innovation event, slated for later this year, has a vibrant committee composed almost entirely of students that share a passion for innovation and idea implementation. This able committee will oversee all aspects of planning, executing, and reviewing the Jkuat Tech Expo.

    The committee members will bring on board a wealth of expediency and flexibility from their diverse backgrounds. These profiles highlight a summary of the faces behind the event.

    Calvin Kebati

    Committee Chairman

    Present since its inception, meet Mr. Kebati is the brains behind Tech Expo. He is passionate about innovation and is determined to have an even bigger and better Tech Expo this year. He continues to serve as Chair of the Tech Expo Committee. .

    Michael Waititu

    Vice Chair and Finance Lead

    ​Meet Mr. Waititu, the Vice Chair and Finance Lead of the Tech Expo 6.0 organizing committee. He is a great team player and inspires every member of the committee to own their role and be innovative in their work. He will lead this team toward achieving a bigger and better Tech Expo.

    Somboriot Kipchilat

    Designer and Social Media Manager

    ​Somboirot an IT Graduate and Founder of Kraft Digital is an extremely creative designer whose work speaks for itself. He has done design work for Tech Expo several times and continues to amaze.

    Robert Ruigu

    Media Manager

    Robert can tell an entire story with a single picture. A final year student in Geomatic Engineering, his passion for photography and film makes him the ideal Media Manager for JKUAT Tech Expo for this year. 

    Sarah Wanjohi

    Market Lead

    ​Sarah is a final year Electronics and Computer Engineering student. She is a silent worker who works well with teams and loves networking. As our Market Lead, she is in charge of our sponsors and partners for this year's EXPO.

    Betty Kingóri

    Projects Coordinator

    ​Meet Betty, an organized and determined final year Mechanical Engineering student who loves to travel. She works well with people and as such makes a great Projects Coordinator for Tech Expo 7.0.

    Emmanuel Kinyanjui

    Partnerships Coordinator

    ​He is a fourth Year Mechatronics Engineering student passionate about innovation and business. He serves as our partnerships coordinator working with the innovators to actualize their projects through mentorship and collaboration

    Christine Kariuki

    Partnerships Coordinator

    Christine is an IT professional who is highly motivated and passionate about the impact that technology can have on people's lives.​ Currently pursuing her Masters in IT, her contribution to the EXPO has proven invaluable when it comes to collaboration between the innovators and key industry players.

    Annstella Mumbi

    Event Coordinator

    Annstella is a final year Mechatronics Engineering student. She is a diligent worker who works well with people and loves event management. Her passion mainly lies in community development and travelling. As our Event Manager, she intends to see this year’s Tech Expo stand out and run perfectly.
